Students in this course tutor and teach others the skills they need to be successful in various content areas, such as English Language Arts and Math. Students receive training in organization, test-taking strategies, tutoring strategies, then apply their skills directly to those in need; earn certification as a Ridgeview High School Tutor. This course is ideal for students interested in a career in teaching, coaching, or who enjoy helping others. Students can choose to earn credit for the course, or earn service hours for clubs such as National Honors Society. Those activities may include PE, Music and Computer Programming.

Office Assistant
Course: MD900SEL
Length & Credit:  1 trimester/.5 credit/EL
Grades:  11, 12 (9 & 10 instructor approval)
Prerequisites:  Instructor Approval
Office Assistants will work in either the counseling office, front office/attendance, library or career center.  Students will assist the office staff with projects, deliver notes to students, and provide general assistance to visitors.  Office Assistants are expected to be on time, have regular attendance, and conduct themselves in a professional manner.  Can be used as one of the 4 minimum courses required to meet OSAA athletics/activities eligibility.
Grading: Pass/Fail
