-Strength Speed and Fitness students are asked to participate in an extremely intense weight- training curriculum. Activities in this class are for the motivated PE student that has the desire to change their body composition while taking part in advanced Cardiovascular and weight bearing exercises. **** Rating

-Advanced Team Sports will take part in moderately difficult exercises while competing in a team sports oriented class. Students in this class must be self-motivated and enjoy both competition and hard work. Only Team sport activities will be offered. *** Rating

-Fitness Sports Recreation is the basic PE course for students looking to enjoy a traditional PE setting. Light workouts combined with PE games and activities. ** Rating

-Low Impact is a course caters to the student that does not enjoy the competitive nature that most PE classes resemble. All activities will be low intensity and non-competitive. * Rating

Fitness Sports and Recreation (FSR)

This course is a general Physical Education class developed with the high school student in mind. Cardiovascular Endurance, Muscular Endurance, Muscular Strength, Flexibility and Body Composition are the five components of fitness and will be addressed in the fitness portion of this course. Team sports such as basketball, football, volleyball, soccer, etc. will emphasize team cooperation and competitive play. Individual sports such as tennis, badminton, golf and backyard games will encourage fair play and friendly competition. The overall goal of this course is to expose students to a variety of physical activities and the desire to continue them for a lifetime.

This course is for the high school student with motivation to improve their levels of physical fitness and self confidence. The goals of Strength, Speed and Fitness will be to improve flexibility, strength, power, agility and speed. Yes, we will use free weights. Yes, we will engage multiple segments, and Yes, we will do a lot of it standing. The lifts and exercises we will focus on are to optimize athletic ability. Emphasis in class each week will include dynamic warm ups daily, speed training, ladder work, lateral speed and agility, plyometrics, body weight exercises, technical and complex weight lifting, stabilization exercises, and of course core work. The workouts will be a combination of  BFS, Crossfit, and SST. Workouts will not only be in the weight room but also in the mat room, gym, and fresh outdoors. Workouts are constantly varied and fun.

This Course is for the High School Athlete looking to improve all 10 GPS (General Physical Skills). The 10 General Physical Skills are Cardiovascular, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Balance, and Accuracy. The Workouts will be a combination of BFS (Bigger Faster Stronger) and Crossfit. This is an Early Bird class that meets at 6:30 AM Monday through Friday.

Advanced Team Sports and Conditioning

This class is designed for the motivated student striving to better themselves and also for competitive students. A minimum of two days a week will be an emphasis on conditioning, whether it is in the weight room, mat room, track or gym. Workouts will vary and will always be fun for the motivated. The other days will be your typical team sports with an emphasis on drills for each sport followed by competitive play with full participation. This would be an excellent class for athletes and students who want to play with other motivated students.

Low Impact Fitness

Students will explore different lifetime fitness activities. Students will recognize the value of physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression and/or social interaction. Students will develop the tools and understanding necessary to achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of fitness. Students will exhibit responsible personal and social behavior that shows respect for self and others.

Adapted Physical Education Mentors

Prerequisites: Instructor approval and application process

Adapted Physical Education Mentors requires students to be motivated, self-disciplined and kind hearted individuals while serving as mentors. Mentors learn to work with individuals with special needs through daily workouts and activities. Mentors are expected to be responsible individuals that will help support the needs of others at all times.
